Exclusively Not Yours

It is not as if the world is going to receive my plaint

with open arms,

that doors will be wide

for him and us,

or that the prospect of admission

to all those exclusive venues

will come to pass;

It is like those very special clubs

and schools, and at the top, in corner offices

near the sky

that were unavailable, in years past, to females,

or to those of our species

who were not of the appropriate color,

or class; But really!

This adorable creature we coddle

is AN ONLY DOG

and to leave him out of all

the activities in which we indulge

is Just A Crime.
