How do we age? with lines
and scowls, and turgid bowels.
How do we live? with sighs
and spasms, vivid orgasms.
How were we born? in exquisite pain,
eventual wonder; the result of a blunder.
How shall we die? with a bitter cry:
“Had one more thing been done, I would have won!”
So why do we laugh, why has sorrow-steeped begotten joy? because the world
by love excites; and by exciting minds ignites.
