That Which Thereon Perched
That androgynous angel
which we speak of as a “she”
stands primly
in long marble robes
near the front of the library,
her hands crossed, but holding
a quill in one, and a parchment in the other.
In this weather
wrap-around wings seem appropriate.
But why the small bird
perched on her shoulder?
Some of this symbolic stuff
is really hard to understand.
