Someone gave me a box of chocolates
and I knew
if I ate one I’d eat them all.
So I put them in the freezer.
My wife said, where
did you put the chocolates?
They’re not good for you.
I’d throw them out.
No, I said, they’re really nice looking chocolates.
If we have guests we can put them
in one of those pretty bowls
we never use otherwise.
But then we forgot.
At least she forgot.
I threw away the empty box.
