Magic

Magic

So let me tell you:

Houdini came back like he said he would.

I saw him like I see you now.

He was rattling some chains,

which was only appropriate,

and he said,

I’ll tell you one thing: Just ask.

But, out of my wits, I thought about it

too long, and he went away.

So that was my experience with the magical.

Now it is reality with which I must deal.

And it is, it is, so very sad.

Now there are only the tricks that memory permits,

gilded and flamboyant, what is the word?  Brummagen!

Tricks with coins. Tricks with bills.

The hand is quicker than the eye.

But it is the mind’s manipulations which take the prize.
